2017 / 2018 NPDLL Board Elections

Date(s):
10/01/2017 - 7:00pm

Dear NPDLL Community,

Last night was the annual general membership meeting for NPDLL.  For those of you that don’t know, at this meeting the Board of Directors is elected for the upcoming 2017-2018 season.  Unfortunately, we need to communicate that out of 11 official Board Positions only 5 individuals committed to return as Board Members for 2017-2018.  This means that currently for a league of near 400 children, 5 individuals have chosen to volunteer to manage the league.

Currently filled positions;

President – Shawn McMillen

Vice President – Matt Kalinowski

Secretary – Trevor Hafner

Treasurer – John DeStefano

Player Agent – Paul Gregoire

  These 5 board positions are the MINIMUM that a league is allowed to operate by Little League International by-laws.  There are several key board positions that are not filled. The league cannot operate without a:  Field Coordinator, Stand Coordinator, Fundraising Coordinator & Safety Officer.

Again, these positions that are currently not filled are vital for the league to operate.  We are asking the public / parents to please consider volunteering to accept one of these open positions.  If anyone has an interest, please email the board @ board@northpoconolittleleague.com to communicate your wish to be considered for a position.

To be transparent, the current board is also looking at alternatives if these positions cannot be filled.  For example, without a Field Coordinator the League must look to contract with a local landscape company to fully manage the maintenance of the fields.  Without a Stand coordinator, the board will look to contract with a local food supplier to manage the stand.  Unfortunately, these are not options that the board would like to proceed with as they could force league registration fees to be raised to offset the increased costs for these externalized services but if no one is able to volunteer for the open positions, this may be a reality (let’s hope not).

A league of nearly 400 children cannot operate without volunteers, this league is at a critical point where without an increase or volunteers it will be extremely difficult to sustain operating the league.

Thank you for your time and if you have any questions please reach out to a current board member.
